A Meaningful Name for a Promising Innovation

Our English name RooWalk [‘ruː wɔːk] is not only catchy and memorable, which is crucial for marketing an innovative walking aid internationally, but it also carries a deeper meaning.

“Roo” – Inspired by the Kangaroo

“Roo,” pronounced like the little kangaroo “Roo” from the children’s series Winnie the Pooh, is a common abbreviation of “kangaroo” in Australian English. It’s often used lovingly to refer to Australia’s national animal. As a symbol of exceptional mobility, the kangaroo perfectly represents our product.

Balance and Energy Efficiency – Like a Kangaroo

Kangaroos use their tails for balance and energy conservation. Similarly, RooWalk provides physical support for children with mobility impairments, acting like the kangaroo’s tail. It stabilizes the user and helps conserve energy while walking, without the need to push, pull, or lift an additional aid over obstacles. RooWalk follows the child automatically.

Exploring the Outdoors – Thanks to RooWalk

RooWalk offers children security and comfort with every step, much like a kangaroo mother carrying her joey in her pouch. Moreover, few animals symbolize the joy of movement as vividly as the kangaroo, a favorite among children. This joy of mobility is what we want to bring to children with cerebral palsy or other movement limitations. RooWalk enables them to explore nature, even over rough terrain — almost like a kangaroo.

A Name That Speaks for Itself

The “Walk” in RooWalk was an obvious choice for us, as it highlights the themes of walking, movement, and activity, directly reflecting the product’s purpose. In other words, what you read is what you get.

Since September 2021, RooWalk has been officially registered as a trademark with the German Patent and Trademark Office.
